Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition promotes the bicycle for everyday use in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
Getting more people on bikes is good for everyone in the community, whether you ride or not. In addition to being good, clean (and sometimes dirty) fun, bikes give us a way to get around without polluting our air and water. Bike riding also creates livable street-level communities where retail and dining thrive. Even if you choose not to ride a bike, you’ll enjoy the environmental, economic, and traffic-easing benefits of living in a bike-friendly community.
SVBC works in communities across two counties to make it easier, more convenient, and more attractive to ride a bike. We do this by partnering with municipalities to get innovative infrastructure like green and protected bike lanes installed. We also get more people using these facilities by providing bicycle safety education and skills training to thousands of school children annually, as well as adults. We compliment our infrastructure and education initiatives with programs that engage our region's employers and provide a support system to get more employees riding to work.
Silicon Valley and the Peninsula are ideal places to ride a bike, with warm temperatures and forgiving topography. As our population continues to grow, and young people entering the workforce increasingly look to live in places where they can get by without a car, it's imperative that we transform our area into a place where getting around by bike is an easy decision. Help us make our community better by making biking easier for everyone. Support SVBC to make bike riding a way of life in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties!
